This Privacy Policy explains how RunPulse (“RunPulse”, the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the App. Please read it carefully. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to it. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
RunPulse is designed as a privacy-first, on-device application. We do not operate servers that collect your personal data, we do not maintain user accounts, we do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. The overwhelming majority of your data — your runs, routes, statistics, and preferences — is stored locally on your device and, where you enable it, within Apple Health. This summary is provided for convenience only and does not replace the full text below.
The App is provided by the individual developer identified on the App Store listing (the “Developer”). The Developer is the party responsible for the App. For privacy inquiries, use the contact method listed in Section 15.
The App processes the following categories of information locally on your device. This information is generally NOT transmitted to the Developer:
(a) Health and fitness data. With your explicit permission granted through Apple’s HealthKit system, the App reads and writes running workouts, walking and running distance, active energy (calories), heart rate, and workout routes. This data is managed by Apple Health and remains under your control within Apple’s system and on your device. You may revoke HealthKit permission at any time in the iOS Settings or Health app.
(b) Location data. With your explicit permission, the App accesses your device’s precise location while a run is in progress in order to draw your route, calculate distance and pace, and provide a “back to start” direction. Location data used for route mapping is stored locally on your device. The App does not continuously track your location in the background outside of an active run for advertising or profiling purposes.
(c) Run history, statistics, and achievements. Records of your runs, derived statistics, badges, quests, and similar content are stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage frameworks.
(d) Preferences and profile inputs. Information you enter — such as your name, age, maximum heart rate, appearance settings, and training preferences — is stored locally on your device to operate the App’s features.
The App integrates with the following third-party services. When you use features that rely on these services, limited information is transmitted directly from your device to those third parties. The Developer does not receive, store, or control this data, and the Developer is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. Your use of these services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
(a) Weather data (Open-Meteo). To provide current conditions and forecasts relevant to running, the App sends approximate geographic coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service. No account identifier is attached. See Open-Meteo’s privacy practices at https://open-meteo.com/.
(b) Optional AI coaching (bring-your-own-key). The App includes an optional AI analysis feature that operates ONLY if you choose to supply your own API key from a third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google). If you enable this feature, summaries of your run data are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you selected, authenticated with your own key. The Developer is not a party to that transaction, does not proxy or store the data or your key on any server, and does not receive the content of your requests or responses. Your use of any AI provider is entirely at your own risk and subject to that provider’s terms and privacy policy. Your API key is stored locally on your device.
We do not collect or maintain: user account credentials for the App; a server-side copy of your runs or health data; advertising identifiers for our own advertising; data from third-party advertising SDKs; or behavioral analytics profiles sold or shared for cross-app tracking.
Where data protection laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation apply to on-device processing, the Developer relies, to the extent the Developer is a controller at all, on your consent (which you provide through the operating system’s permission prompts) and on the necessity of processing to provide the functionality you request. You may withdraw consent at any time by disabling the relevant permission or by deleting the App.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through a third-party service integrated with the App, please contact that third party. Because the App does not collect data on our servers, we hold no such data to delete.
Because your data is stored locally, you control its retention. You may delete individual runs within the App, remove HealthKit permissions, or delete the App entirely, which removes locally stored App data from your device. Data you have written to Apple Health persists in Apple Health according to your Apple settings and must be managed there. Data already transmitted to a third-party service (for example, an AI provider you configured) is subject to that provider’s retention policies, not ours.
We rely on the security features of Apple’s operating systems and on-device storage. While we take reasonable steps consistent with an on-device app, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot and do not guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for securing your device, your Apple ID, and any API keys you choose to use.
The App can be used in many jurisdictions. Any transmission to third-party services (weather or AI providers) may involve processing in countries other than your own, governed by those third parties. By using those features, you consent to such processing by those third parties.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Because we do not hold your personal data on our servers, the practical way to exercise these rights is through your device and the operating system controls described above, or directly with the relevant third-party service. We will assist with legitimate requests to the limited extent we are able, but we generally have no personal data about you to provide.
The App may reference or link to third-party websites and services. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, terms, or privacy practices. Accessing them is at your own risk.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when the updated version is posted with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all responsibility and liability for the acts, omissions, data handling, security, and privacy practices of any third party, including Apple, weather providers, and AI providers. Any claims regarding those services must be directed to those parties.
For questions about this Privacy Policy, contact the Developer through the support channel listed on the App Store product page or the support website associated with the App.
